The auction featured works by prominent figures in modern Korean calligraphy, attracting significant attention from collectors. Among them, a ten-panel folding screen in semi-cursive script by Geomyeo Yoo Hee-kang achieved the highest price of the sale, selling for 29 million KRW after competitive bidding. Yoo Hee-kang is widely recognized for his powerful yet refined brushwork rooted in classical calligraphic traditions. The work presented in this auction displayed a harmonious blend of semi-cursive and cursive scripts, characterized by free-flowing strokes and balanced composition, which drew strong interest from bidders. Hangul calligraphy also attracted considerable attention during the auction. A Hangul calligraphy work by Pyeongbo Seo Hee-hwan sold for 10.5 million KRW, demonstrating the steady demand for works in the Korean script tradition. Kim Eung-hyeon played a pivotal role in establishing the artistic identity and aesthetic value of Hangul calligraphy, and his works continue to be sought after by collectors. In addition, a Hangul calligraphy work by Gal-mul Lee Cheol-gyeong was sold for 4 million KRW, marking another meaningful transaction during the auction. Lee Cheol-gyeong is recognized for exploring the visual possibilities of Hangul calligraphy based on traditional brush techniques, and his works are known for their restrained yet distinctive style. Kan-Auction has established itself as one of the few auction houses in Korea that actively introduces calligraphy works to the market.
